On the T&J list a while back we were talking about converting old Champions characters to Truth & Justice. I haven’t been able to find my old campaign notes yet, but I thought this might be fun. The Destroyers were the baddies I used the most back in my Champions GM-ing days. And I enjoyed using them one of the better structured of the villain teams.
The Destroyers
Death Singer and Frost
Both he and his brother both have mutations, but of different types. His brother was lucky, in the northern environment he could hid his mutation, but with his, there was no hiding it. When they came home from a day of play in the wilderness, the brother’s step-father was there and he saw the two playing with their mutations. He started to beat them; he didn't want to be the father of two mutants.
The two ran off into the wilderness and never returned. They made their way to the city and have put together a team in an effort to get rich and powerful, so far they have not had much success, but their luck had to change sometime. Death Singer and Frost make up the co-founders of the group with Death Singer taking the leadership role.

Stinger
Studying insects in the Amazon sounded like a dream job to him, and it was, they were a lot of bugs to study. He was on a hike when he saw an insect that he had never seen before; he took off after it and followed it deeper and deeper into the jungle. After following it for about an hour it landed on a branch, it was a beautiful bug, if you like that sort of thing. He was about to put it in a jar and take it back to the campsite when he was attacked by a swarm of them; he was stung over a hundred times.
He ran from the swarm, but soon the toxin in the stings got the better of him. He stumbled and fell into a water spring. Over the next few days he would sip at the water, unable to move as his body fought off the toxin in his blood. The scientist did not get up from the spring, Stinger did.
The spring contained some strange mixture of chemicals that acted with the toxin in his blood and turned him into a mutant. He now is out to make a name for himself and supporting himself though a life of crime. He met and joined the brothers and the three named the group The Destroyers.

Arrowhead
The Mob was starting to feel the crunch of the influx of superheroes, profits were down and men were being taken out as soon as they did a job. The bosses got together and came up with a plan, they would try to make their own supers and fight fire with fire. The bosses agreed each to send their best men to the research center and each was given the mutation serum. Only Arrowhead survived, but he was a mutant with powerful abilities.
He went back and continued to work for his boss, but the jobs that he was sent on were getting more and more dangerous. The boss had determined that the mutant would sooner or later try to make a bid for power and he was trying to end his life before he tried the power play.
Arrowhead knew what his boss was trying to do and was waiting for the right moment to make his move. That moment came when he met The Destroyers when they were stealing from one of the mobs warehouses. Instead of fighting the group, he wanted to join them and leave the mob life behind. The group accepted him and now they where four.

The final member of the Destroyers was working as a security guard at a weapon research center. He had gotten the job because an old army buddy was in tight with the secretary. They did a great job in the military and was an okay policeman, but his aggression that served him well in the military was not as appreciated in the private sector.
After he got a little ruff with a scientist that had forgotten his ID gadget the company decided to turn him loose. He was not the type to get mad, okay he was mad, but he also wanted to get even. That night, before the company canceled his security pass, he broke into the lab and stole the battlesuit that he knew that they were working on.
With the suit he set out to make his fortune, but soon found that he would need help in order to make in the land of superhero teams, he met up with the Destroyers and joined the, up and coming, team. With five members the Destroyers are ready to make themselves known to the city as a team to be feared, and hopefully to beat up on the heroes that have been abusing them for so long.

I think in 3rd edition, Here Games (boo, hiss, don't pay freelancers) tried to turn them into credible menaces, changed their names, and upped their powers. I preferred them as the losers :)

Do you have a formula for convert from Hero to T&J or just whatever you think fits?

With the Hellboy Handbook and the Spawn Handbook coming out, I've thought about posting Champions stats for them.
I keep hoping Erik Larson does a Savage Dragon Handbook.
