I just want to say I am just geeking about stuff I like or grousing about stuff I dislike with these preview bits. So if I gush too much about some stuff forgive me.

This should be a blast Dark Horse has done a lot cool stuff down thru the years. I wonder what Joss Whedon will be "drawing". And for $.25 how can you go wrong?
The Escapists

Ever since Dark Horse licensed the Escapist character from the Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (if you havent read it I recommend it highly), it has been interesting to see what use they have put all the characters in that book. And this has art by Phil Bond!
NEXUS ARCHIVES VOLUME 4 HC
Written by Mike Baron, art by Steve Rude.
Every once in a while a creation appears that both reinvents and epitomizes its genre. 1981 marked the beginning of such an event with the first issue of Nexus, a playful adventure series that paid homage to the best of classic science fiction while introducing an unforgettable antihero. Countless readers around the world followed his action-packed exploits over the next two decades, visiting alien realms and fascinating creatures through the wit and verve of his youthful creators.
Dark Horse invites you to relive the series that defined the careers of both Steve Rude and Mike Baron, collected in a hardcover format for the first time. In this volume, Sundra discovers the source of Nexus' powers and the cause of his headaches‹the Merk is revealed! Space pirates pillage Ylum's orbital community, and the Sovs declare war, but Nexus is without his powers . . . so the Heads create the most devastating weapon in the galaxy.
216 pages, $49.95, in stores on Aug. 23.
Baron and Rude's Nexus was (along with Grimjack) my favorite comics in the mid-80s. Every month I waited very impatiently for each issue. Incredible art, deep stories kept me hooked thru the books entire existence. I really want to get these hardcover editions so I dont have to unbag the original issues every time I need a fix.
SCARLET TRACES: THE GREAT GAME #1
Written by Ian Edginton, art by D'Israeli.
This fantastical new miniseries picks up where the hardcover left off. After almost four decades of conflict, the British invasion of Mars has ground into a bloody stalemate in the dust of the red planet. Launched to fanfares and cheers, the times and mood have changed, as the British Government under the iron hand of Prime Minister Spry struggles to wage a war another world away while keeping its grip on an increasingly troubled and turbulent empire. Riven with revolt and revolution, the glory that was Great Britain is unravelling at the seams with freedom and free speech brutally sacrificed to maintain order. However, this is nothing compared to what is happening on Mars, and the worst is yet to come!
32 pages, $2.99, in stores on July 12.
I have been hearing for a while that they were doing a sequel to to Scarlet Traces OGN. Scarlet Traces is a "What if" about England after the War of the Worlds invasion failed and how they adapted the alien tech. Buy the book and then the mini!
THE PSYCHO TP
written by JAMES HUDNALL
art & cover by DAN BRERETON
July 5 • 172 pg • FC • $17.99
When a flying terrorist attempts to assassinate the president on Air Force one, it becomes clear that super-humans are living WMDs. A government agency is formed to monitor these “Psychos.” Jake Riley is an agent assigned to watch them. But when he’s betrayed by his own agency and his life is destroyed, Jake’s only option is to become the very thing he hates. A Psycho.
Collecting issues 1-3 of the classic DC series, now in development by Universal Pictures. Includes pre-production art by BRERETON.
This is a collection of some of Dan Brereton's work. Think maybe 20 years ago? Not sure. I still have the Psycho promo button from then. If you like Brereton's art you will like this. I am not sure how good the story will be, because I havent read it in a long time. Though most of James Hudnall's writing I have enjoyed.
