Havent had a chance to do this of late. Not sure if anyone missed it. But I have only had 3 days off in the last three weeks and last week I had 56 hours in. Be a nice check though.

52 #4
OK I get it the past is screwed up, move on with the Booster Gold plot already. Though the same could be said of the whole dang book> BTW could anyone tell me what happened with Donna Troy while she was in space?

Loveless # 7
This book really isnt grabbing me. Off the pull list it goes.

Crisis Aftermath: the Spectre #1 (of 3)I really like the character of the Spectre. Hope they can really re-establish him as a player in this.

All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe More crazy characters like Huntra and Jack Flag, Reading the entries of Guardian (aka James MacDonald) and Madison Jefferies shows how convoluted characters histories can be. Nice to see Guy Davis' co-creathion the Judge in there though.

Battlestar Galactica #0 Ok this was at least worth the 25 cents at least.......

Mouse Guard #3
More mousey swashbuckly goodness. Seriously check this book out. If you like stuff like Redwall you should enjoy this. I dont like Redwall and like it anyways.

PVP #26
More reprints of the strip online Makes good bathroom reading..

I am a huge fan of John Carter of Mars. Never been big and the rest of ERB's work, but John Carter rocks.  I have all of the Marvel Comics series and a goodly portion of what was done with the character at DC. I need to replace the books at some point soon. I really looking forward to what Ted McKeeker does with the character.

I have also really wanted to run a Barsoom game. Always too many game ideas and not enough time.

AGENTS OF ATLAS )

Ok being a big What If? geek I remember when they did this version of the "Avengers" in What If #9. And also when Kurt Busiek used them again in Avengers Forever. So I am kinda geeked to see this. Jeff Parker did a cool independent OGN called the Interman so I think he could nail this one. More info on this one at Comic Book Resources.

MARVEL MILESTONES: CHRIS CLAREMONT & JIM LEE - X-MEN & THE STARJAMMERS )

Kind of embarrassed to admit I want to buy this, but I remember enjoying all the craziness in these issues and it has the Starjammers so it cant be all bad, can it?

MARVEL WESTERNS: STRANGE WESTERNS STARRING THE BLACK RIDER )

I love western comics. Check. Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers. Check. Joe R. Lansdale. Check. What could go wrong. I have yet to read anything that Englehart and Rogers have done that I havent liked. And Joe R. Lansdale made Jonah Hex cool once again. Looks like a winner to me.

EXILES #85 )

OK I odnt read Exiles as single issues, but this may be a an exception. This could be a great send-up of Wolverine which cant be a bad thing.

SPIDER-GIRL PRESENTS AVENGERS NEXT VOL. 1: SECOND COMING DIGEST )

I admit I like the M2 Universe stuff. I am sorry.

SPIDER-MAN VISIONARIES: KURT BUSIEK VOL. 1 TPB )

When John Byrne and company were butchering the Spider-man comics Kurt Busiek was doing Untold Tales of Spider-man which were the only decent Spidey stories at the time. This has been LONG overdue to be collected in TPB.

BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT TP )

These were great Elseworlds stories from back in the day when I still had hair. Great art and fun stories.

The Creeper )

Really on the fence with this one. I like Steve Niles, but no-one really gets how to write the Creeper.

TRIALS OF SHAZAM! #1 (of 12) )

Ok I love the Big Red Cheese and this is written by Winick. Probably end up buying the single issues and the TPB on this one.

Bill Mantlo while not one of the greatest lights of comics he did do a lot of fun comics especially the Micronauts and Rom, the SpaceKnight. So I am very pleased to see David Yurkovich doing this. His books Threshold and Death by Chocolate are among some of the oddest supers books ever done.

press release here )

For those of you that dont know Bill Mantlo was injured in a hit and run accident and suffered a severe closed head injury. He has never fully recovered. His family appeciates any cards and letters sent to him:

Not sure whether this a good thing or not. I wonder if they get a movie off the ground if Richard Dean Anderson will be a part of it. And I am really not sure that yet another spin-off is a good idea.

Upcoming DC Comic TPBs & HC

In September we have:

JSA: MIXED SIGNALS TP
Writers: Geoff Johns and Keith Champagne
Artists: David Lopez, Don Kramer, Fernando Blanco, Dale Eaglesham, Jim Fern, Art Thibert, Keith Champagne and Alex Ross
Collects JSA #76-81
$14.99, 144 pages

Always up for the collections of this book. One of the few things I buy monthly as well the TPBs. I am just wondering why they have to relaunch this book with a new #1.

In October coming in to empty my wallet:

ABSOLUTE DC: THE NEW FRONTIER HC
Writer/Artist: Darwyn Cooke
Collects DC: THE NEW FRONTIER #1-6, plus a pinup gallery, deleted story pages and more
$75.00, 464 pages

So far I havent been tempted by any of the Absolute editions that DC has put out, but this was so much fun and any extra stuff that Darwyn Cooke did for it cant help but be a good thing.

THE NEW TEEN TITANS ARCHIVES VOL. 3 HC
Writer: Marv Wolfman
Artists: George Pérez and Romeo Tanghal
Collects THE NEW TEEN TITANS #17-20 and TALES OF THE NEW TEEN TITANS #1-4
$49.99, 228 pages

I have enjoyed reading and re-reading the first two volumes of this. Brings back very fond memories. And the art was when George Perez was at his ability. And the way he drew Wonder Girl. Hubba! Hubba!

And just in time for holiday cheer in December:

THE HUNTRESS: THE DARKNIGHT DAUGHTER TP
Writer: Paul Levitz
Artists: Joe Staton, Steve Mitchell, Bob Layton, Bob Smith, Bruce Patterson, Jerry Ordway and Mike DeCarlo
Collects DC SUPER STARS #17 and stories from BATMAN FAMILY #18-20, WONDER WOMAN #271-287, 289-290 and 294-295
$19.99, 224 pages

First they are reprinting the the the All-Star comics from the 70's and now this. This is my Huntress. Not the character showing up in Birds of Prey these days. Though they have made the newer Huntress a lot more interesting character in recent years.

SACHS & VIOLENS TP
Writer: Peter David
Artist: George Pérez
Collects SACHS & VIOLENS #1-4
$14.99, 128 pages

This was originally published by Marvel's Epic Comics imprint way back when. This mini-series was set up well for future stories, but we never saw more. About the last thing I thought DC Comics would publish.

And just for grins Anime Peanuts
