Doc Augur – One of the first heroes to appear on the scene. Said to be the Phoenix Knight’s closest friend and ally. Now in his early 90’s he has long since retired from adventuring, but uses his vast financial resources to keep his hand in. in his civilian identity he founded Spencer and Spencer Securities and has provided financial planning for his fellow heroes free of charge.

The Doc (he is a doctor PhD in Mathematics) knows most everyone in the business. He still uses his gadgeteering abilities to fix things and puzzle out odd technology. He has a broken model of one of Professor Primate’s Evo-Ray guns that he is still tinkering with in hopes of curing some of those that have been adversely affected by it.

Doc Augur is the first hero the Phoenix Knight activated in 1938. Since that time he and the Knight have worked together often. Almost all of his children and grandchildren (now of his great-grandchildren are old enough yet to see if this has continued into another generation) have developed some sort of super-powers. Most notably Pathfinder, Scout, and Voila!

Professor Primate – Trying to increase his intelligence with an Evo-Ray he succeeded but also devolved his physical body in direct inverse proportion to his now great intelligence. The professor now resembles something between an ape and Neanderthal after several attempts to restore his normal appearance.

He has clashed repeatedly with the different incarnations of Ironclad and has allied himself with Malicho. He recruits or kidnaps people to become devolved into Neo-men who resemble Professor Primate, but without the added intelligence. Whether this is by design or accident.

The Professor is most infamously known for killing the original Ironclad. He has been curious about the origin of Ironclad’s powers and this has drawn him into conflict with the succeeding Ironclads over the years.

Good [+2] Scientist, Expert [+4] Bio-chemist, Good [+2] Genetics
Good [+2] Savage in combat, Expert [+4] Minions, Poor [-2] Megalomaniac

Expert [+4] Super-intelligence, Expert [+4] Super-gadgeteer, Good [+2] Super-gadget: Evo-Ray

Malicho – Is a bad luck-inducing villain that specializes in tormenting heroes. He has frequently allied himself with Professor Primate. His bad luck powers first manifested in his late teens when some bullies in high school had beaten him up. They later were all found to have died in strange accidents. Since then he has used his powers to torment those weaker than himself and live a life of leisure.

His luck powers only work to cause chaos and pain. He can for example cause someone to have leg cramps or for a door to suddenly break open, but cannot help himself to win at gambling.

(Note: Malicho is Spanish for evil deed.)

Good [+2] Mocking humor, Good [+2] Scrappy, Expert [+4] Torture
Good [+2] Deathtraps, Poor [-2] Cruel

Master [+6] Luck Control (Stunts: Bad luck blast)
Limitation: Can only be used to induce Bad Luck

The Phoenix Project is an idea that has been bouncing around in my head for several years. The main premise is that the Phoenix Knight is a superhero that was first sighted in the late 1930's and his presence seems to trigger the activation of superpowers in some people. The whys and wherefores of this I will explain as I go on (if any interest is expressed). The first few heroes here are either related by blood or back ground.

As always comments welcome and its crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] tandj_asmp

Voila! – Latest heir of the Spencer family heroic legacy. Flashy speedster that dresses like a stage magician. Likes to affect sleight of hand as his speed tricks. For example he would wave his wand and then at super-speed tie the bad guys up. Works at the family investment firm heading up the IT department.

The Spencer family tradition started when the hero Doc Auger and the Phoenix Knight first met. Since then two or three member of each generation has been super powered. Doc Auger founded Spencer & Spencer Securities in 1954 using his abilities to predict fairly accurately the financial markets.

Expert [+4] Stage Magic, Expert [+4] Computer geek, Good [+2] Fun-loving, Poor [-2] Show-off

Master [+6] Super-speed Stunts: Speed Sleight of Hand, Sonic Slap,
Good [+2] Teleport

The Patron – The grapevine say he was a hero back in the 1950s and after his retirement he decided to use his resources to help novice heroes. His organization is called the Gladius Project.

The Patron is actually the son of Doc Augar, the minor hero Scout. He was injured early in his career and had to retire. He used the extensive family resources to start the Gladius Project to aid and mentor new heroes.

The Project also employs many non-powered persons to gather intell to better aide the cause.

Subtext (Megan Matheson) – A quiet telepath and empathy. She is quite ferocious in combat in stark contrast to her normal reserved personality. She is a graduate of the Gladius project.

The reason for her savagery when in battle is that she feels all too well the aggressive emotions around her and they overwhelm her somewhat.

Megan makes her living as sculptor, she works in many mediums and does some work in miniature gaming.

Good [+2] Gladius Project graduate, Good [+2] Combat training, Expert [+4] Sculptor, Good [+2] Cute nerd, Poor [-2] Introverted

Master [+6] Telepathy (Signature Stunts: Empathy, Psi Blast)
