I just want to say I am just geeking about stuff I like or grousing about stuff I dislike with these preview bits. So if I gush too much about some stuff forgive me.
( The promo book of the month award )This should be a blast Dark Horse has done a lot cool stuff down thru the years. I wonder what Joss Whedon will be "drawing". And for $.25 how can you go wrong?
( The comic that didnt exist till it did award )Ever since Dark Horse licensed the Escapist character from the Adventures of
Kavalier & Clay (if you havent read it I recommend it highly), it has been interesting to see what use they have put all the characters in that book. And this has art by Phil Bond!
( I need to make more money award )Baron and Rude's Nexus was (along with Grimjack) my favorite comics in the mid-80s. Every month I waited very impatiently for each issue. Incredible art, deep stories kept me hooked thru the books entire existence. I really want to get these hardcover editions so I dont have to unbag the original issues every time I need a fix.
( The Victorian mini series of the month award )I have been hearing for a while that they were doing a sequel to to
Scarlet Traces OGN. Scarlet Traces is a "What if" about England after the War of the Worlds invasion failed and how they adapted the alien tech. Buy the book and then the mini!
( The about damn time it was collected award )This is a collection of some of Dan Brereton's work. Think maybe 20 years ago? Not sure. I still have the Psycho promo button from then. If you like Brereton's art you will like this. I am not sure how good the story will be, because I havent read it in a long time. Though most of James Hudnall's writing I have enjoyed.
