Heard earlier this morning on NPR about a new drug for Type II diabetics (like myself) of a new drug that controls not only your blood sugar, but also helps lower LDL cholesterol. And in most cases promotes weight loss as well. The drug is called muraglitazar (the trade name will be PARGLUVA if approved by the FDA) and articles about can be found at Forbes.com and Medicalnewstoday.com

Poking around in the bargian section on dvdplanet.com I found this amusing they have the movie based off of Hal Lindsey's Late Great Planet Earth listed as Science Fiction. This is a movie based off the book of the same name that tries to explain the Book of Revelations.

I wonder if it is a commentary or whoever is entering the discs has no idea what it is intended to be. I am betting the later, because I can see how some people would think it is fiction.

The listing is here BTW.

'Freedom fries' lawmaker's U-turn (from the BBC)

"A pro-Iraq war US congressman who campaigned for French fries to be renamed "freedom fries" is now calling for US troops to return home from Iraq.

Republican Representative Walter Jones is to introduce legislation demanding a timetable for the withdrawal.

The renaming of fries in Capitol Hill's cafeterias in March 2003 expressed disapproval among some US lawmakers with France's opposition to the war.

French toast was also re-branded "freedom toast".

Surprised I havent seen this in any American news so far.

I was reminded last night about what happened a couple Thanksgivings ago.

Ann generally takes Warner over to Lisa's on Sundays when she runs her long running (nearly ten years I think) Hunters Hunted game. Our other dog Indiana stays home with me. Warner tends to get spoiled rotten over there. Expensive dog treats, leftovers, sometimes her own hamburger from McDonalds.

So when when Warner comes home we joke that Warner brags to Indy about the stuff she gets at Lisa's. Tell her wonderful stories like gravy falls from the sky (yes we are crazy dog people) and as many cookies as you want.

So when we had Thanksgiving over there a couple years ago we were all in Lisa's kitchen when being underfoot got gravy spilled on her head. So gravy DOES fall from the sky as far as Indy is concerned.

EDIT: Ann wanted to point out I am the dog crazy person.

Ok a kid in Charles County in the state of Maryland was refused his diploma because he wore a bolo tie. The school said it was too skinny. Now he has to have a conference with the administrators to get it. To quote the Washington Post

"We set the standard to make sure all our ceremonies are formal and respectful," he said.

In March, Benya's high school sent a letter to parents and seniors explaining that "adherence to the dress code is mandatory," with the word mandatory in bold and underlined. For girls: white dresses or skirts with white blouses. For boys: dark dress pants with white dress shirts and ties."

Who cares what tie he wears? Its not like he mooned the audience or walked up to the microphone and said "Fuck Bush!". Christ who cares what they wear.

Costas Will Sub for King on CNN

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Bob Costas, who currently splits his time between HBO and NBC, is adding the occasional CNN gig to his schedule as well.

The cable news channel says Costas will become a substitute host for "Larry King Live," its nightly interview show, when King is away. The multiple Emmy winner and former host of NBC's "Later" will likely sub for King about 20 times a year.

"We're thrilled to have one of televisions most outstanding broadcasters joining the CNN roster," says Jonathan Klein, president of CNN/U.S. "Bob's quick wit, nimble mind and broad range of interests will engage viewers in the best King tradition."

Bob Costas doing interviews. Hopefully he wont be stuck doing stuff on the latest celebrity trial, runaway bride, or whatever is the tabloid crap of the moment.

*Rant Alert*

By the way can anyone explain to why the hell anyone watches Nancy Grace? When I turn on CNN Headline news I want a quick hit of what is going on not her talking head on the Jackson trail, the Scott Peterson trial, or the Kobe Bryant trial or whatever the flavour of the day is. I want NEWS. The only news show I watch regularly now is Countdown with Keith Olbermann. The regular jabs at Fox News alone make him a fun watch. It's kind of scary when I have to listen to the BBC to get some decent news.

*Ranting ends*

Ok backing to looking for a job.

"Announcing True20 Adventure Roleplaying

Green Ronin Publishing is proud to announce to upcoming release of the True20 Adventure Roleplaying game. Based on the innovative new rules system from Blue Rose, our Roleplaying Game of Romantic Fantasy, True20 provides a complete set of rules for fast, easy, and fun adventure roleplaying. All you need is a single 20-sided die to play, and the system guides you through the process of creating your own heroic character, with plenty of options to choose from, letting you create the hero you want to play! True20 Adventure Roleplaying will be available next week in PDF format from RPGNow. Whether you are an experienced roleplayer or just looking for a new, simple, and fun game system, True20 is roleplaying done right! "

I hope this sells well for the folks at Green Ronin. I wonder if it is going to be a print product or just a PDF one.

Anyone curious as to the title of this post. Dont ask. It was for my own amusement and any others who have dealt with Nisarg on the general Green Ronin or Blue Rose message boards.

I am planning on running a Star Wars game using Wushu RPG. Its a very fast and simple set of rules. All you need is a bunch of d6s and the ability to describe you action in a creative manner. For each thing you describe your character doing you get another d6 to against you characters trait.

For more info look at Bayn.org.

I am using the rules that Harri Tusa developed Which can be found Wushu Wiki Star Wars 0.5.

Wish me luck!
