Does anyone else find it annoying that HotJobs, Monster.com, etc all have "jobs" posted by the Army, Air Force, et al?

They are jobs they are a military service. I have nothing against the military just they arent jobs.

In a close second is all the sales jobs. Yeah sure I want to drive my own car, generate my own leads, and work on commission.

WIth the ASC account for Guardsmark closing down I wasnt sure where I was going to be or even how many hours I was going to be getting right away. Looked like I would be going back down to the hell-hole that is the Howell account, but was not looking forward to that at all. First because its a pit and second its another account that most likely wont be around much longer.

Then I found out about a week and a half ago I learned I was going over to JNL. Still wasnt sure if I would be getting a lot of hours but it turns out the regular third shift guy there is transferring to an account nearer to where he lives in Metro Detroit. So the site supervisor called today and wanted to come in for training and is giving me his shifts. YAY!

This means Sunday through Thursday 12 am to 8 am. Still third shift but at least I will always have my Saturday nights free. And also working at midnight means I will actually see Ann more and also get to see some TV. Even after we move over to Owosso on the 21st its only like a 40 minute drive to Okemos.

This will take some pressure off finding a better job. Because I would like to work daytime hours again.

I generally dont like whine here, but today .......

My lower back is aching (as it likes to do from time to time) hurts enough I wish I could stay home. But I cant find anyone to work my shift for me at the Land of Cable. So I will just be Captain IcyHot for the night. Anything I could take that would really do any damn good would make me sleepy and working 3rd shift thats not a good idea.

What can I say ... sucks to be me today.

Guess what? I get to work X-mas Eve and a part of X-mas Day! And its a two hour drive from home to boot! Doing parking lot patrol at a Wal-mart up in Midland! Dosent that sound exciting? I thought so as well! So depending on when I leave my regular gig at Comcast I will either be working until 6 A.M. on X-mas and then have to be back in Midland at 6 PM and work until 8 AM X-mas Morning.

Ann, Steph, & I are supposed to go out to eat for brunch on X-mas Day. Not sure if I will be able to stay awake enough to enjoy it! BAH! HUMBUG! Someone said that once I think,

The only upside is that I will get paid for my drive time and most likely be all overtime as well.

I am thankful for my job, but I would really like to see normal human being hours again. And maybe see the Sun sometimes. Now off to bed, Little Nemo is summoning me.

I have to sneak over to Xander's to watch A Snoopy Christmas but its worth it to see him do the Snoopy dance. Willow BtVS

Way back in the 20th century on this day in 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas was aired for the first time!!

From USA Today....
When CBS bigwigs saw a rough cut of A Charlie Brown Christmas in November 1965, they hated it.

"They said it was slow," executive producer Lee Mendelson remembers with a laugh. There were concerns that the show was almost defiantly different: There was no laugh track, real children provided the voices, and there was a swinging score by jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi.

Mendelson and animator Bill Melendez fretted about the insistence by Peanuts creator Charles Schulz that his first-ever TV spinoff end with a reading of the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke by a lisping little boy named Linus.

"We told Schulz, 'Look, you can't read from the Bible on network television,' " Mendelson says. "When we finished the show and watched it, Melendez and I looked at each other and I said, 'We've ruined Charlie Brown.' "

Good grief, were they wrong. The first broadcast was watched by almost 50% of the nation's viewers. "When I started reading the reviews, I was absolutely shocked," says Melendez, 89. "They actually liked it!"

In other news driving home this morning 54 miles after getting around seven inches of snow was so much fun. Wound up like a cheap watch now. There are way too many people that dont know how to drive in this weather. Do people forget what snow is every year when construction season starts? If the tractor trailers are passing you you might be going a bit too slow!

Speaking of snowstorms, last Saturday night coming home from playing poker at Gordy's I hit a pothole and tore a hole the size of a golf ball in the oilpan of the Ford Focus. Still havent heard back frm the insurance adjuster yet, which is kind of annoying seeing that Ann works for the company that insures the car. and the car is at a garage less than three miles from their corporate headquarters, youd think they would have gotten back with us by now.

Off to visit Little Nemo. Good Morning and Good Luck!

Being up late at night I see the stars and the moon a lot. Sometimes I just sit outside and stare up at them. Sometimes I share the view with a couple rabbits that come to feed on the green apples that have fallen to the ground. The airport nearby shuts down after 11 PM so it gets fairly quiet for being in the city limits.

You may call me a fool, but I have a hard time believing that no-one had a hand in their peace and beauty. This prayer flows through my head a lot when I am out there.

Prayer of Saint Francis )

It help focus my mind and center my spirit, which in turn keeps me going with a smile on my face. Sometimes I wonder if I should have been a monk, but then I enjoy too many pleasures of the flesh.

Now I wander off to bed with Ann and the pups. My blessings be upon you.

The brain tends to wander working third shift....

Why does the bag of microwave popcorn have to be placed "this side down".
Why does cold water taste more refreshing?
Why do commercials on late night TV become more and more annoying as the hours grow later?
Why do birds appear.... oops never mind.
Why does Sonic advertise in Michigan, there arent any of their restaurants here that I know of?
Does anyone actually read this?

Now off to work. Must make the world safe for cable!

Been a while since I posted anything. If anyone wonders I have been working a lot of overtime. I have been working my regular 36 hours in Howell plus two or three extra shifts at the Comcast account as well. The money will be nice but the house looks likes the dogs have been in charge of the housework. :)

The good news is though starting tomorrow I will be working the Comcast account full-time! Monday through Friday 9pm to 6am. YAY! Guess I really impressed the client there. This means a nice raise and no weekends! We havent signed a long term contract there yet, but things look good. I guess my philosophy of asking myself WWJD (What would Jigglypuff do?) has paid off. :)

In other madness I had a dream the other night that we bought a house and were doings some remodeling on it. We were having a second bath put in and for some reason Ann wanted to install for lighting the type of lights you use to grow plants indoors with. I said "Hell No!" and so then Ann and her two best friends were mad at me because without those types of lights, they couldnt write poetry in in the bathroom. No I didnt eat anything odd before bed that morning.

Yesterday I went to pick up a refill and while waiting I heard one of the people at the front counter asking first someone named Costello and then Abott. I wondered aloud if Laurel & Hardy were next and a couple of Senior Citizens there laughed. Glad my humor is appreciated somewhere. The dogs never laugh at any of my jokes unless they involve bones or chasing squirrels.

Lastly we are playing Serenity tonight. I am planning to play the card playing gunslinger with the mysterious past. Gordy is running this game should be fun, have a couple of new players coming I will let you know how it goes.

To infinity and beyond! God that was stupid, I need more sleep.... but I must make the house safe before the dust bunnies go feral!
